How Is Placenta Encapsulation Performed?
How Is Placenta Encapsulation Performed?
Every Pluscenta placenta capsule is made in a certified lab using a standardized, multi-step process — not in a home kitchen. From the moment your placenta arrives, it moves through medical-grade disinfection, gentle steaming, controlled dehydration, fine grinding, and encapsulation into vegan, plant-based capsules. Here's exactly what happens at each step.
The short version
- Your placenta is processed in a certified lab, one placenta at a time.
- It's disinfected, gently steamed, dehydrated under controlled temperatures, then ground and encapsulated.
- You receive around 100 vegan, plant-based capsules — available nationwide, $375 all-inclusive.
- Certified lab — never a home kitchen
- Medical-grade disinfection + controlled dehydration
- Only your own placenta — no fillers
Our lab process, step by step
Step 1: Collection & cold-chain intake
After birth, your placenta is collected with the sterile materials in your kit and shipped overnight in cold-chain packaging via UPS Healthcare. On arrival it's logged in a tamper-evident container and handled individually, so there's no contact between one client's placenta and another's.
Step 2: Drainage
Excess blood is drained from the placenta using a hospital-grade single-use drainage bag, which reduces contamination before processing begins.
Step 3: Medical-grade disinfection
The placenta goes through a medical-grade disinfection cycle designed to reduce bacteria and pathogens while preserving the tissue in its natural form. This is the controlled, standardized step a home process can't reliably replicate.
Step 4: Gentle steaming
The placenta is steamed using a controlled, traditional method — a step drawn from long-standing practice — to prepare it for dehydration while keeping temperatures consistent.
Step 5: Controlled dehydration
It's then dehydrated in a medical-grade dehydrator under precise temperature control. Slow, even drying removes moisture while preserving the placenta's natural composition.
Step 6: Powdering & encapsulation
Once dried, the placenta is ground into a fine, consistent powder and sealed into vegan HPMC (plant-based) capsules with natural coloring. Your capsules contain only your own placenta — no chemical additives, preservatives, or fillers.
Step 7: Final inspection & return shipping
Every batch is visually checked and weighed for consistency, then shipped back to your door ready to take. Most mothers receive around 100 capsules — the exact count depends on the size of your placenta.
Why a lab process matters
The difference between a clean, consistent capsule and an unpredictable one comes down to where and how it's made. A certified lab standardizes the three things a home kitchen can't guarantee: validated disinfection, controlled dehydration temperatures, and one-placenta-at-a-time handling that rules out cross-contamination. That's why Pluscenta is built around a lab — not a countertop.
Frequently asked questions
How Is Placenta Encapsulation Performed?
Placenta capsules are made by processing the placenta into capsules: it's disinfected, gently steamed, dehydrated under controlled temperatures, ground into a fine powder, and sealed into capsules. At Pluscenta, every step happens in a certified lab using a standardized, multi-step method — not a home kitchen — so the result is clean and consistent.
What are Pluscenta placenta capsules made of?
The capsules contain only your own placenta, processed through our lab method, sealed into vegan HPMC (plant-based) capsule shells with natural coloring. No chemical additives, preservatives, or fillers are introduced during processing.
How many capsules will I receive?
Most mothers receive around 100 capsules. The exact number varies because it depends on the size of your placenta — a larger placenta yields more powder and more capsules.
Is the process safe?
Yes — when it's done in a certified lab with proper disinfection, temperature control, and individual handling, which is exactly how Pluscenta operates. Learn more on our placenta encapsulation safety page.
